AcuGraph 5 Video Training: Custom Treatments

Editor’s Note: This post references AcuGraph 5, which has been succeeded by AcuGraph CS. The clinical concepts discussed remain applicable to current practice.

Let’s talk about Custom treatments that you can use when you’re creating treatment plans on AcuGraph. When you go to your patient’s graph and you click on the Custom tab, you’ll see that there isn’t a custom treatment available because you haven’t defined any custom treatments yet. No Custom treatment So, the first step is to go to Reference Section by clicking on the reference icon on the top left corner of the application, then click on custom treatment (shown as Custom Tx). ReferenceCustom Tx This is where you will add and manage your custom treatment recommendations. Start by clicking “Add New.” Add New Most practitioners like to categorize their treatments, based on type of recommendation. For example, you may have Exercise recommendations and Essential Oil recommendations that will be easier to keep organized in separate groups. Create a New Category then add a New Recommendation in that category. Add new drop down Category recommendation Next, you will need to identify which graph findings you’d like to trigger this recommendation. For example when you check the box for SP low, anytime SP is deficient it’s going to trigger this recommendation. If you select SP Low and High, then this recommendation will be triggered by either of these findings. If you select SP Low AND LU Low, this will only be triggered when BOTH Spleen is low AND Lung is low. condition Go ahead and add in the Description for this recommendation. This is where you will include all the information for what this recommendation is and what the patient needs to do to comply when this graph result triggers this custom recommendation. Once you’re finished just click Save. Custom Description From now on, every time there’s a graph that meets this trigger scenario,  your custom recommendation will be available in the Custom Treatment tab. Repeat this process for all the scenarios and recommendations you would like to have custom recommendations for. Return to your patient’s last graph and go to Custom tab recommendations. You’ll see the custom recommendations you made when there are conditions are found that trigger the recommendation. To add the custom recommendations for the patient, simply check the box and the software will add this recommendation to this patient for this visit. Custom addition Note that the custom recommendation will also show up under Home Care. Home Care plus Custom treatment That’s how you create and recommend Custom treatments! First, you define them and then you can select them. Custom treatments can take any form that you’d like, you can have herbs, nutritional supplements, homeopathic remedies, exercise, die, or anything else that you would like to prescribe based on graph findings. These custom treatment possibilities make AcuGraph really flexible and really powerful, no matter what style of treatment you use!
