AuriculoMEDICINE: Transform to Next Level Healing 5/5 (55)

Did you know there is a difference between auriculoTHERAPY and auriculoMEDICINE? I didn’t really understand this until last year, when I did training with Dr. Nogier.

A couple of weeks ago I got an email from an average person who wanted to know if the Auriculotherapy Success Seminar was right for them. Here’s how the conversation went:

Hello. I’m not an acupuncturist, but I want to know more about treating ears. I use pressure points for pain and they work. If I went to this seminar, would I learn how to be an auriculotherapist?

My answers was NO. This seminar is not right for you…

I responded with a lengthy email explaining that AuriculoMEDICINE and AuriculoTHERAPY are not the same thing. In the end, we figured out that all she really wanted to do was learn more basic pressure points. I sent her some resources on how she could learn more and let her know that if she ever became a Licensed Acupuncturist, to touch base with me, and I’d love to have her at our seminar.

After that email, it dawned on me that many Licensed Acupuncturists settle for knowing a few basic go-to points, and think they have tied up the world ear acupuncture. These acupuncturists are missing out. I’m going to share SIX truths about auriculotherapy.

In the end, I hope you realize that you can do SO MUCH MORE with this medicine if you expand your education.

Truth #1:  Anyone can get results.

A basic auriculotherapy class can literally be condensed into a three-hour course: why auriculotherapy works, how to find a point, how to treat a point. There are several classic points that are extremely effective. Medical professionals use a simple NADA protocol to help with drug addiction. There is a basic universal protocol for smoking cessation. Everyone feels better emotionally by treating Shen Men and Point Zero.

Think about this… An average person can go online and buy a treatment protocol for anxiety, stress, insomnia, weight loss, etc. with a do-it-yourself list of instructions using seeds or pellets on “pressure points” on the ear. Really, it’s a great business and I know the owners. My friends Tova and Ellie do a FABULOUS job expanding auriculotherapy to the general public. Here’s their website: earseeds.com.

Why shouldn’t someone use pressure points on the ear to resolve stress or relieve pain? You don’t even have to use needles to get good results with protocols like these, and there aren’t any real contraindications for treating pressure points on the ear.

Truth #2:  Ear points are NOT hard to find.

auriculotherapy points

Okay, so there are HUNDREDS of points on the ear, but you don’t have to know them all to effectively resolve general conditions. If you know a few points to resolve pain and relieve stress, you can do some effective work.

Here’s a truth: When I graduated college as an acupuncturist, I had learned about hundreds of acupuncture points, how to use needles, contraindications with regards to needles, and how to create a general treatment protocol. BUT—in all honesty, I had memorized a list of about 10 really effective points which I used most often to supplement my TCM treatment plan.

Truth #3: Patients can do it without you.auriculotherapy anxiety

Auriculotherapy is cool, but honestly, if you give a patient a basic ear chart, they can navigate around successfully treating ear points with pellets or seeds and get some basic relief.

This shouldn’t offend you. Everyone should have a list of basic self-help trigger points and pressure points—whether on the ear or on the body—to help them resolve pain and stress. This isn’t a lot different from patients using massage, stretching, yoga, deep breathing, positive affirmations, journaling, etc. to help put them in balance.

Truth #4: Auriculotherapy is NOT the same as Auriculomedicine.

Did you know that there is another whole realm of ear acupuncture called auriculomedicine? There are some practitioners that use this modality, ALONE, as their only treatment to resolve really difficult diseases.

Imagine that you had to give up all other forms of treatment and only use the ear to treat. Would you be very good?

Truth #5: Training with Dr. Raphael Nogier in 2016 pushed me to a new level of healing.

I’ve always thought of myself as pretty great when it came to ear acupuncture–until I figured out how much I DID NOT KNOW.

It takes a lot more than memorizing a handful of really great point locations to become amazing at healing. Like I said earlier, even average people can learn basic point location and effective treatment.

Graduation from auriculotherapy to auriculomedicine has been life-changing in my clinic. Now I know why so many practitioners go back to the same seminar year after year, the Auriculotherapy Success seminar with Dr. Raphael Nogier, son of the founder of auriculotherapy, Dr. Paul Nogier. The bank of knowledge by Dr. Nogier is absolutely phenomenal. Here’s a list of NEW things I learned last year:

  • Painful points are not the same as electrical points.
  • The difference between reflex points and neurovascular points.
  • Cauterization methods for effective sciatic treatment. (One treatment leading to years of pain relief!)
  • A systematic ROOT and BRANCH treatment.
  • Detection and treatment of toxic scar tissue throughout the body via treatment of energetic blockages on the ear.
  • How to boost the immune system.
  • How to find and treat tumors in the body via Photo Emission.
  • Resolution of Dental Foci blockages from inflammation via the ear.

Truth #6: The Final Truth

auriculotherapy seminar nogierWe begged Dr. Nogier to come back to the United States again, as he lives in France. We have no idea how much longer he will continue to share this information live. His seminars are NEVER recorded. Now I know why so many practitioners go back to learn from him year after year. There is new stuff every time. He never teaches everything he knows in one weekend (because that would be impossible). With every seminar, he ALWAYS gives more. If you want to learn from the BEST, I’d suggest you don’t miss it.

Let me know if you want to join me!

A note from a previous, repeat Nogier Seminar attendee:

“This was my 5th seminar with Dr. Nogier! All I can say is that each one has been better than the previous one! This class allowed me to continue to define my work and move to the next level each time! Dr. Nogier’s contribution to our medicine is priceless!! I plan to be at each seminar as long as he continues to teach and help us all excel at what we do!! Thank you!!”

  1. i fully agree with chris longacre… this blogger has carelessly and recklessly opened the flood gates for these morons to be auricular therapist….. and this is bad news and bad business for us who spent time and money becoming certified AT.
i urge meridia tech and its bloggers to review the choice of words used in their articles with more sense rather then as awe and shock tactics for a money spinoff.

    1. Hello Sayed,

I’d like to apologize. The wording for the blog post title did not fit the intent of the message I was trying to create. I’ve now changed the title and slightly changed the introduction to the blog post. I have great respect for those who continue their education in auricular acupuncture. There are many phases of training. I hope you will re-read the message and find it encouraging for those who want to know more.

      Best regards~

      Kimberly

  2. Loved the old title–catchy and got people to read further while emphasizing self-deprecating humor. But it really was a bit too much, especially since the public often doesn’t get the joke, especially when they are in pain. And I can understand why practitioners may feel offended.

But seriously, the new title is a sleeper. BORING. It needs to reflect the power auriculomedicine gives practitioners to make a difference treating their patients, and how easy is can be once you start to learn it. Gets better the more you learn though.

Maybe something like, “Friends, Practitioners, Pain Patients, lend me your ear–let Auriculomedicine make the difference.”

  3. Dear Colleagues,
Always bear in mind that the auriculomedecine was created by Nogier because in France a Physical Therapist – Kinesitherapeut as they are called in French – not being a doctor, was not allowed to practice earacupuncture or auriculotherapy. All this was before the EU was founded.
Also in this field things changed dramatically for the best.
    Sincerely,
    Francois Adriaens PT, MT, AcT.
