Hello Friends,<\/p>\n

Today, I’d like to share a very interesting case study I happened upon. I must admit, I’ve never seen anything quite like this. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

First some background:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Any holistic approach to health must necessarily include the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual<\/strong> aspects of the patient, together with the recognition that all these aspects are intertwined. Each affects the others. Today, I’d like to focus on the spiritual.<\/p>\n

The Chinese concept of “Shen” literally translates as “Spirit, God, consciousness, awareness” and includes the spiritual aspects of the patient. Western religious traditions include a similar concept referred to as the “spirit” or “soul.”  Of course, the harmony of the patient’s Shen must always be considered when forming a diagnosis and treatment plan. Shen disharmony may be responsible for a variety of mental, emotional and physical symptoms. Treatment that includes Shen balancing often helps to resolve many issues.<\/p>\n

But what if the treatment is purely spiritual? What if it involves no needles, no herbs, and indeed no practitioner? We’ve all heard stories about miraculous healings brought about by spiritual means. But are they real?<\/p>\n

Take a look at the following case. This long-time patient comes in frequently for maintenance and balancing treatments. She has a variety of health issues, and generally responds well to treatment, though lasting balance has been elusive.<\/p>\n

So what changed?<\/strong> <\/span><\/h2>\n

Simply put, she had a powerful and deeply personal experience with prayer. She has always been a prayerful person, but this experience was unlike anything before or since. It was an important enough shift that she reports feeling somehow different inside since the experience; more at peace, more filled with light.<\/p>\n

Clearly, this experience shifted and balanced her Shen in significant ways. I’m amazed at the lasting effects\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I’m equally amazed that the graph so clearly illustrates the pattern change. Who knew you could objectively measure Shen? Do the inner spirit, soul, and consciousness relate to Qi? I think so. In fact, the only real difference between a living person and a corpse is this Qi life force energy that organizes and animates the body. Many religious traditions echo this same sentiment.<\/p>\n

I hope this is a reminder of the importance of caring for the spiritual dimension of our patients\u2014and ourselves. If you’re not practicing some form of spiritual enrichment like prayer, meditation, or study, perhaps this is a good time to start.<\/strong><\/p>\n
