My heart hurts today, but my heart and soul are so grateful for the experience. Let me tell you our story\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2010 he showed up for the very first time at my clinic with a HOPE that I could help him with chronic shoulder pain. I was fresh out of college and didn\u2019t have a lot of acupuncture experience.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>He Believed in Me<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only was I a new acupuncturist, I was also a new AcuGraph user at the time. As with all new AcuGraph users, my graphing skills were not all that great. Take a look below.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>See all those splits? It\u2019s very typical for a new AcuGraph user to have a lot of splits when they first begin their journey. It\u2019s okay. Little did he or I know that we\u2019d meet together 130 times over the next decade. He came in for pain, but once we got his pain under control, he learned the value of acupuncture as a healthy lifestyle choice\u2014which led to continued acupuncture care month after month, after month\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>I Learned a Geriatric Specialty<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As the years progressed, I treated him for \u201call the geriatric stuff\u201d that comes up if you are blessed to live a long life. <b>His graph wasn\u2019t always pretty.<\/b> He\u2019d have his ups and his downs with health issues along the way.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But here\u2019s what made his <i>golden years <\/i>so much better\u2026 While he continued to see his regular doctors, <b>he always included acupuncture as an adjunct therapy<\/b>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/2020\/10\/a-geriatric-mentor\/geriatric-through-the-years\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-24836\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Geriatric-Through-the-Years-1024x640.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24836\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Geriatric-Through-the-Years-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Geriatric-Through-the-Years-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Geriatric-Through-the-Years-768x480.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Geriatric-Through-the-Years.jpg 1152w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>I\u2019m Going to Miss this Guy<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When his wife called me to let me know that he had passed, we did a little reminiscing. She thanked me for taking care of her husband all these years. He loved acupuncture.&nbsp;She told me that each month when he came for his session it was like he was going to a party. We had many tender moments together. I\u2019m filled with gratitude for a beautiful journey. I gained so much wisdom about life, pain, courage, compassion, humor, prayer, faith, and LOVE from this beautiful man.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><b>If you are ever blessed with the incredible opportunity to spend <br>130 hours of your career <i>mentoring<\/i> with a geriatric patient, <br>I highly recommend it!<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your life will be greatly blessed.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The end will be bittersweet.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li>You will cry.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li>Your heart will ache when it\u2019s over\u2014but the lessons you learn will be priceless.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Godspeed to my friend.
