A study published by the National Institutes of Health <b>compared several studies to evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture for stimulating or regulating the immune system<\/b> using different methods of acupuncture. The conclusion? Traditional Chinese Medicine CAN benefit immune health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do your patients know that acupuncture helps boost your immune system?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having discussions with patients about boosting their immune defenses with acupuncture is really easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I discuss <strong>acupuncture&#8217;s immune-boosting effects<\/strong> with every patient, every time they come in. Patients appreciate knowing that acupuncture aids their immune systems\u2014now more than ever.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amidst all of the uncertainties in the world, it brings patients great peace and comfort to know that YOU, <strong>their acupuncturist<\/strong>, can help strengthen their immune system.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In today\u2019s post I\u2019m sharing<strong> three easy \u201cboost your immune system\u201d discussions <\/strong>which which can be tied back to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.AcuGraph.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>AcuGraph analysis.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>1. Ancient Theory\u2014Modern Analysis<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 5000 years ago, <i>ancient Chinese medicine<\/i> <i>doctors<\/i> got the theory behind strengthening the immune system right.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>They knew that \u201ce<i>xternal evil influences\u201d<\/i> could enter your body and make you sick.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/li><li>So, they developed systems using acupuncture points, pathways and herbs to help the body fight the \u201c<i>evil qi\u201d.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><\/li><li>They understood the importance of preventative medicine. They didn\u2019t wait until you were sick to treat you. Instead, they used acupuncture to strengthen the body, thus preventing illness.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Here we are 5000 years later. <strong>The language has evolved\u2014but the treatment strategies are still the same.<\/strong> Instead of an &#8220;external evil influence or evil qi,&#8221; we use the terms like &#8216;virus&#8217; and &#8216;pathogen&#8217;. Stress Weakens the Immune System<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/2013\/10\/neck-pain-shoulder-pain-elbow-pain-and-weight-loss\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Be aware of neck, back and shoulder tension.<\/strong><\/a> When you are feeling stressed, your body holds onto tension in the <strong>Small Intestine and Urinary Bladder<\/strong> muscular pathways.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Untitled-design-40-1024x576.png\" alt=\"stress weakens the immune system\" class=\"wp-image-24719\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Untitled-design-40-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Untitled-design-40-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Untitled-design-40-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Untitled-design-40.png 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According the acupuncture theory, <strong>blocked energy<\/strong> in these muscular pathways weakens the immune system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I see an imbalance in the Small Intestine and\/or the Urinary Bladder channels, my conversation with the patient goes something like this: &#8220;In today\u2019s acupuncture session, we\u2019ll work on resolving the <strong>tension<\/strong> you are experiencing in your neck, back and shoulders <strong>so that your immune system can function at it&#8217;s highest level<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>3. Lung and Large Intestine\u2014Extra Attention in the Fall<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In Japanese style <strong>Five Element Acupuncture Theory<\/strong> the <em><strong>Lung<\/strong><\/em> and<em><strong> Large Intestine<\/strong><\/em> pathways need extra attention during the <strong>fall<\/strong>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Untitled-design-40-copy-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Untitled-design-40-copy-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Untitled-design-40-copy-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Untitled-design-40-copy-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Untitled-design-40-copy.png 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The lung is in charge of <strong>breathing in what we need<\/strong>. The Large Intestine is in charge of <strong>letting go of what no longer serves us.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the Lung and the Large Intestine pathways are in balance, the immune system functions well. When these pathways are <strong>out of balance<\/strong>, patients may experience symptoms such as asthma, wheezing, colds, cough, phlegm, congestion, skin rashes, eczema, diarrhea or constipation.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If AcuGraph shows that the Lung and the Large Intestine pathways are out of balance, I let my patient know that their session will include treatment of the these pathways to help <strong>strengthen<\/strong> <strong>their immune system.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Watch the Recording from our Free Class! <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On Friday, September 18th, we hosted a <strong>free, live class<\/strong> about boosting the immune system with acupuncture.
