Yin Tang is an AMAZING acupuncture point! It helps with  problems like nose bleeds, nasal congestion, headaches, an even high blood pressure. But, my absolutely favorite application for yin tang is best explained by my college-aged daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Mom, when you put that point in my forehead it feels like all of the stress, anxiety and troubles in my mind just slowly drip out of my head like warm water. My whole body sinks into relaxation and I go into a deep happy place.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isn’t that awesome? She has a way with words. But honestly, all of my patients have special descriptions of how Yin Tang makes them feel. It is always tied to deep relaxation. One of my patients even calls this point her “Prozac Point.” It’s that powerful for relaxing emotions. I’d say I use Yin Tang every single day in my clinic, and with nearly every patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chakra Connection: Yin Tang matches the location for the third eye chakra. The third eye chakra is said to unlock our ability to be fully focused and see the big picture, and to see beyond the everyday ordinary and into the deeper meaning of our lives and existences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chinese Name:<\/strong> Yintang<\/p>\n\n\n\n

English Name:<\/strong> Hall of Impression<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Location:<\/strong> At the glabella, at the midpoint between the medial extremities of the eyebrows<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attributes:<\/strong> Pinch up the skin over the point and needle transversely in an inferior or lateral direction. Combine this point with GV 20 for inducing calmness and reducing stress. Some consider this point the Upper Dan Tian or Third Eye<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TCM Actions:<\/strong> Quickens the collaterals and courses wind; quiets the spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indications:<\/strong> Infantile fright wind; high blood pressure; frontal headache; heavy-headedness; nosebleed; deep-source nasal congestion; insomnia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secondary Indications:<\/strong> Headache; eye diseases; nasal congestion; postpartum blood dizziness; pregnancy epilepsy; trigeminal neuralgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Needle Information:<\/strong> Subcutaneous insertion .3 – .5 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
