She said: \u201cI don\u2019t know how you know these things, but you were RIGHT\u2014I was coming down with a cold and I didn\u2019t even know it! The good news is that my cold only lasted one day, and usually I am sick for 3 to 4 days. Can I book an appointment for my husband to keep him healthy also?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is the time of year that everyone is hoping that they don\u2019t get run over by the \u2018Flu Truck.\u2019 How did I know that my patient was coming down with something?\u00a0 NO&#8211;it wasn\u2019t because I looked into my \u201ccrystal ball\u201d to see the future of her health.\u00a0 I simply graphed her and found multiple indications that this may be the case. This led to me asking her if she felt like she was coming down with something.\u00a0 Her answer was: \u201cNo, but I have been a little tired lately.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4>Her graph indicated to me that she was more susceptible to catching a cold\u2026<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1334\" style=\"margin-top: 15px; margin-bottom: 15px;\" title=\"Low Immune Graph\" src=\"http:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/example.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/example.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/example-300x187.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Some indications that made me think she was in danger of getting a cold were as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>#1<\/strong>: My experience has shown that those with deficiency or splits in the Lung channel are more susceptible to getting sick during flu season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#2:<\/strong> The Lung and Large Intestine are paired organs which tend to be out of balance when someone has low immunity.\u00a0 The Lung was deficient and the Large Intestine was split\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>#3<\/strong>: She hadn\u2019t been eating well, which also adds to someone being more susceptible to a virus.\u00a0 She didn\u2019t come right out and tell me that she wasn\u2019t eating well, but I could tell by the graph.\u00a0 The Spleen was split and the Stomach was excess. When I asked her about this she confirmed that she had been to several holiday parties over the last week.<\/p>\n<p>This is a great time of year to let your patients know that acupuncture can help them boost their immunity.\u00a0 Here is a little bit of <span style=\"color: #1e8f1e;\"><strong>ADVANCED AcuGraph Training<\/strong><\/span>\u2014from a TCM perspective which includes classic points to remember and herbs to have on hand for your patients.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/how-to-boost-immunity-with-acupuncture.jpg\" alt=\"how to boost immunity with acupuncture\" width=\"564\" height=\"1410\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>POINTS<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Split or Deficiency in the Lung channel:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lung 7 is the Luo for this channel so it is perfect for balancing splits.<\/li>\n<li>Lung 7 combined with LI 4 create the perfect pair for promoting immunity.<\/li>\n<li>I also like to add SP 6 and ST 36 to this combination when I am trying to strengthen someone\u2019s immune system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Excess in the Lung Channel:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Often phlegm is the culprit for excess in the Lung channel.<\/li>\n<li>To get rid of phlegm you want to support the Spleen and Stomach by adding SP 6 and ST 36.<\/li>\n<li>And then I ALWAYS add ST 40.\u00a0 Peter Deadman says that \u201cST 40 is the single most important acupuncture point to transform phlegm in the body.\u201d\u00a0 It transforms damp, benefits the chest, and alleviates cough and wheezing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>HERBS<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Phlegm changes as a sickness progresses.\u00a0 Here are two herbal formulas which may be indicated when your patient presents with phlegm.\u00a0 It is good to keep both on hand because the type of phlegm they present with will indicate which formula they need.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong><em>Bai He Gu Jin Pian<\/em><\/strong><\/span> <strong><em>(302 LU)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Symptoms:<\/strong> Very dry cough, extreme thirst, a sore throat, and <strong>dry yellow\/green<\/strong> phlegm that is <strong>hard to cough up<\/strong>\u2014sometimes there may be blood.\u00a0 Usually they would also complain of <strong>night sweats<\/strong> and the feeling of being hot.<\/li>\n<li><strong>TCM:<\/strong> Lung heat<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Er Chen Pian<\/span> (204 SP)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Symptoms:<\/strong> Cough, with a lot of <strong>whitish<\/strong> phlegm that is <strong>easy to cough up<\/strong>, with nausea and possible vomiting, with a tendency toward <strong>feeling chilled<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>TCM:<\/strong> Phlegm damp in the middle jiao<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note:\u00a0 As always\u2014check for any contraindications that may be indicated for these particular formulas.\u00a0 This information can be found in your AcuHerb manual.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/ThompsonKimberly2017-IMG-2446-Social-Media-Crop-Leap-Photography.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-18887\" src=\"https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/ThompsonKimberly2017-IMG-2446-Social-Media-Crop-Leap-Photography-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"194\" height=\"194\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/ThompsonKimberly2017-IMG-2446-Social-Media-Crop-Leap-Photography-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/ThompsonKimberly2017-IMG-2446-Social-Media-Crop-Leap-Photography-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/ThompsonKimberly2017-IMG-2446-Social-Media-Crop-Leap-Photography-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/ThompsonKimberly2017-IMG-2446-Social-Media-Crop-Leap-Photography-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/ThompsonKimberly2017-IMG-2446-Social-Media-Crop-Leap-Photography-660x660.jpg 660w, https:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/ThompsonKimberly2017-IMG-2446-Social-Media-Crop-Leap-Photography.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 194px) 100vw, 194px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1340 alignnone\" title=\"kimberly_sig\" src=\"http:\/\/www.miridiatech.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/kimberly_sig.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"230\" height=\"62\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kimberly Thompson, L.Ac.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>kimberly@miridiatech.com<\/p>\n<p><em>Acupuncture Research Analyst<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently I received a phone call from one of my patients.
