Recap: Auriculotherapy Success Seminar 2017

Wow, the Auriculotherapy Success Seminar was incredible. It was an honor to rub shoulders with Dr. Nogier and Dr. Marignan, along with a HUGE group of amazing auriculotherapy practitioners this past weekend!

Here’s my recap of the 2017 Auriculotherapy Success Seminar:

Watching practitioners progress from year to year by learning at the Auriculotherapy Success Seminar has been fascinating. We’ve created a fabulous group of auriculotherapists who not only want to learn, but they want to share what they are learning with each other. Watching the camaraderie amongst practitioners was a highlight for me.

Every time I attend Dr. Nogier’s seminar, I gain another layer of knowledge to add to my current treatment plan. I could sit at his feet to learn year after year and still not get it all. Dr. Nogier is a genius, and I’m so grateful he is willing to come to the United States to teach us how to aspire to higher levels. Even though I don’t understand everything he teaches, I’m still able to come home and have more success with my auriculotherapy treatments.

Some Gems I Picked up this Year

Treatment with a Yellow Marker: Dr. Nogier does a special treatment for PTSD, in which he helps the patient visualize the emotional trauma they experienced. Once he determines which point to treat, he actually treats the patient with a yellow marker instead of a needle. He gave many examples of how patients are cured from the anxiety of a particular emotional trauma with this method.

Treatment of Muscle Spasms: Treat points behind the ear when it comes to musculoskeletal treatment–meaning anything related to muscles, movement, muscle contracture, or spasms. Dr. Nogier talked about acute versus chronic pain. If you are trying to resolve acute pain that includes muscle spasms, mirroring the problem to the back of the ear often brings immediate pain relief.

Inflammation: Dr. Nogier taught about dental foci, which leads to inflammation in the body. He said: “The only way to treat inflammation is auriculotherapy. With Auriculotherapy, it is not the tooth you are treating. It is inflammation throughout the body.” I treat a lot of patients with inflammation. Perhaps I will get better results if ANYONE who has inflammation, anywhere on the body, is treated with auriculotherapy. It’s worth a try, right?

Weight Loss: We know that electrically active points are the most effective. Imagine this… If your patient is coming in for weight management and you plan to treat points for weight loss, it will be hard for you to find electrically active points to control hunger if your patient doesn’t come in hungry. Dr. Nogier says that you will get better results if the patient is hungry when they come in for treatment.

Pain: The same theory for weight loss applies for treatment of pain. Your goal is to find the electrically active painful points on the ear. If the patient is taking analgesics, you will have a problem finding painful points on the ear. Dr. Nogier says to ask the patient to NOT take pain medication before they come in.

What the Future Holds

I have much more to learn. The science of auriculotherapy continues to grow with more and more ways to detect and treat points. You can’t become Dr. Nogier in one weekend, but you CAN keep adding the gems and tidbits he shares each year and become BETTER than you were!

I had a wonderful experience learning, and meeting other practitioners at the Auriculotherapy Success Seminar, and would encourage you to improve your auriculotherapy skills whenever possible!
