A Most Ambitious Research Project

Imagine what you might learn from measuring 2.4 million acupuncture points...

As you know, our complete support package sets the standard for secure data storage and protection, as well as providing free updates and extended warranty protection. But it does something else, too: as our customers back up their data for safe keeping on our servers, it centralizes all our customers’ patient data in one secure location. As I was reviewing our customer backups the other day, I noticed that we have records of over 25,000 AcuGraph® examinations on our server. That’s over 600,000 individual acupuncture points measured.

As you might imagine, I was excited to know that our equipment has helped so many people. But I was even more excited when I thought about what might be learned from this data. Imagine... over 25,000 examinations, all taken on the same set of points with the same equipment. This may be the largest electronic acupuncture database ever assembled.

Ever wonder what the average reading for a 47-year-old female is? Ever wonder if the average reading for a man’s liver meridian is different than the average for a woman's? Do you know exactly how much readings decline with age? Any idea what percentage of teenagers have splits in their small intestine meridians? All these questions and a thousand more can be answered by examining this data in depth. And that’s what we propose to do.

We now have 25,000 graphs, but we want 100,000. This will represent 2.4 million individual point measurements, and will easily be the largest acupuncture measurement database in the world. This number is easily attainable if we have more clients using our Complete Support secure backup feature.

So here’s what we propose...

First, we want to see greater participation in our complete support program, so we’re lowering prices. In fact, we’re cutting prices in half, for those willing to participate in this research project by sharing their anonymous patient data.

Second, we want to maintain assurance of the absolute security of our customers’ patient data. Under no circumstances will we ever access any personally identifiable information about your patients. We will only look at age, gender, and meridian readings. Furthermore, all results will be processed and published in aggregate, rather than any individual format. This keeps us all clean with HIPAA and still furthers the profession’s acupuncture knowledge.

Best of all, we will be able to use this information to further enhance and improve our industry-leading Digital Meridian Imaging™ equipment.

So we’re now offering complete support in two versions: The regular version, still priced at $249 annually, and the research version, now priced at $124 annually. The research version carries all the benefits of complete support–secure offsite backups, extended warranty protection, free version upgrades–and also allows participation in our aggregate research studies without any additional effort or time spent by our users.

Those already enrolled in Complete Support now have the option to change to the research version of complete support at no charge and add an additional year to their current contract with no additional expense.
