Do you Have a Permit to Carry That?

datePosted on 16:04, April 22nd, 2013 by Kimberly Thompson, L.Ac.

A few weeks ago, I was visiting my daughter in Washington, DC. One of our goals for the trip was to do a little shopping–specifically to find a new spring purse!

Unless you are a woman, you just don’t know how many details you need to think about when trying to find the PERFECT everyday purse.

For example–here is an important consideration…My sister once told me the bigger your purse is, the smaller your butt looks…The take home message here is, when it comes to purses, size OBVIOUSLY matters.

Are your EARS burning?

datePosted on 15:41, April 8th, 2013 by Kimberly Thompson, L.Ac.

Are your ears burning? If not, then they SHOULD be! We were talking about you this morning in our Monday morning planning meeting.

This morning’s topic of conversation focused a lot on auricular acupuncture. We are busily preparing for the long-waited re-release of the Stimplus Pro acupoint stimulator, which just happens to be the best handheld tool we’ve ever found for auriculotherapy.

Yep–you heard me right. The Stimplus Pro will be back VERY SOON!Stimplus Pro1

I get emails and phone calls on a regular basis, asking me which electrical stimulation device I prefer for auriculotherapy treatment. Hands down–my favorite device is the Stimplus Pro. The problem has been this: For nearly two years the Stimplus Pro hasn’t been available on the market!

Well, the wait is FINALLY almost over. Be watching for more details within the week…

In the meantime, I’ve compiled a list of previous blogs I have written on the subject of auriculotherapy. Now would be a great time to review how effective Auricular Therapy can be and brush up on your skills.

Here is another article that I wrote last year for Acupuncture Today.

If your ears continue to burn, don’t worry. We ARE still talking about you–and how excited you’re going to be when we release the Stimplus Pro later this week.

Talk to you soon!

Thank YOU…from all of US!

datePosted on 15:03, December 12th, 2012 by Dr. Larsen

I hope you’re having a great
December! We certainly are!

Of course, the holiday season always puts us in a good mood, but this year seems particularly festive. Why so merry? Well, despite the sluggish economy, AcuGraph sales are up for 2012, and we continually hear from our users about all the ways our products are benefitting them and their patients. That definitely makes us happy.

And this year has also seen some important milestones, including the release of Auriculo 3D, hiring additional staff, and the production of our training seminar with Jake Fratkin. What’s more, we already have some more great products planned for 2013.

Looking back at 2012 gives us a lot to be happy about. Heck, the weather’s even been beautiful here in Idaho! So we want to celebrate.

Acupuncture for Weight loss? YES…Here’s How!

datePosted on 05:30, October 1st, 2012 by Kimberly Thompson, L.Ac.

I was talking with Alan Gifford, our staff Practice Consultant, and he asked me if Acupuncture can help with Weight loss. I assured him that it certainly can, and then asked why he wanted to know. He said, “The Weight Loss topic occupies 4 of the top 10 Google searches! It’s a hot topic and if Acupuncture can help, then we need to help our practitioners promote it better!”

This week we’ll focus on Acupuncture & Weight loss. I’ll cover the “how to” and Alan will cover the marketing.

Let’s start with an article I wrote on this topic…

When a patient asks if Chinese Medicine can help with weight loss. My answer is always: “Yes, it can help, IF you are willing to help yourself also!” Acupuncture can help promote digestion, curb appetite, and deal with emotional eating.

What does it take to excel in your field?

How many NBA, NFL, MLB or Olympic Athletes win more than one Championship in their career?

I don’t know the answer to that question…but, I do know that one of our very own has just reached another HUGE measure
of success in her profession!

Kimberly Thompson, our Research Analyst and friendly neighborhood acupuncturist, has once again had her article published in the Acupuncture Today magazine!

October 2012 Issue

In the October issue, she discusses Auriculotherapy.

As many of you know, Kimberly spent months gathering the data, cross-referencing the textbooks , mapping out hundreds of points and identifying the most effective auricular treatment protocols! We then took all of this information and created an amazingly thorough, yet simple software program called Auriculo 3D. We also created the Worlds Best Auriculotherapy Poster…which Kimberly is pointing out!

I want to share something with you…

datePosted on 05:00, August 20th, 2012 by Alan Gifford MS, Practice Coach

We all have images in our mind of what it’s like in “Corporate America.” We see TV shows depicting spacious board rooms, beautiful offices and majestic buildings. These exist to give us confidence that the company we’re doing business with is strong, stable and permanent. What this concept of “business” fails to do is show the human side of things…the REAL reason companies exist.

I was reminded of this last Monday in a company meeting. The CEO of our company, Dr. Adrian Larsen, walked into the meeting with a tray full of smoothies. That’s right, delicious, fruity smoothies! He let each of us take our pick and began to share his thoughts.

Isn’t it exciting? After all of the vacations, reunions and hot summer days…the kids are now heading back to school! Even if you don’t have kids, or they are grown, Back to School brings a collective sigh of relief since that’s when patients return to their normal schedule and practices become busy again.

As we contemplate our kids going back to school, we mentally start the checklist of the things we want to accomplish before the end of the year (because we know year-end will be here sooner than we realize!).

Here are 3 things you can do to make this your best year ever!

1. Increase the number of new patients you see.

How do You Stop a Raging Bull?

datePosted on 15:23, July 31st, 2012 by Dr. Larsen

I hope you’ve never had occasion to find out. And frankly, I hope I never have to know either. But this much I do know: If you MUST stop a panic attack, whatever you do had better be FAST and EFFECTIVE!

As I was preparing to write this letter to you, I thought about all the things we try to stop in our practices every day: pain, discomfort, acid reflux, insomnia, depression, night sweats, the list goes on without end. In fact, I’ll bet nearly every patient you see this week will be in your office because they want something stopped.

How are you going to stop it? Whether it’s anxiety, knee pain, or incontinence, how are you going to stop that freight train?

The BIG Buzz on Auriuclo 3D

datePosted on 05:00, July 20th, 2012 by Kimberly Thompson, L.Ac.

Okay, so an acupuncturist and a patient are hanging out in an acupuncture clinic. The practitioner finishes up the treatment by putting radish seeds in the patient’s ear to extend the treatment. The patient says: How long should I leave the ear seeds in my ear? The practitioner answers:

Wait for it….

Typically, ear seeds are left in up to a week. But you know, they are radish seeds… So, IF you start growing RADISHES in your EARS, by all means take them out and give me a call!

Yep, that was my corny joke for the day. You’ll have to cut me a little slack.  I just can’t help myself! Right now, Auriculo 3D is the BIG BUZZ around the office. We are really EXCITED because soon we will be (or finally we are) releasing Auriculo 3D in multiple languages!

It works HOW fast?

datePosted on 13:27, April 8th, 2012 by Dr. Larsen

How long does it take to stop a panic attack?

I had occasion to find out when my wife awakened me a few nights ago in a full-blown panic attack. Her heart was pounding and rapid, her breath was short, and she was experiencing large muscle twitches all over her body. She had all the emotional anxiety that typically accompanies a panic attack as well. It was as if she had lost control of her body completely, and it was frankly terrifying for her.

What would you do?

It doesn’t have to be SCARY!

datePosted on 13:27, April 8th, 2012 by Kimberly Thompson, L.Ac.

Do you treat kids in your office? If you don’t, you really should. A week or so ago, I had an 8-year-old child come into my clinic for constipation. The mother informed me that he is afraid of needles and wanted to know if I could still treat him. Luckily, I had multiple options for treatment–so of course I said YES. As it turned out, the chief complaint was constipation, but he also had ADD. Have you ever had a kid come into your office with ADD? It can be a little bit difficult.

Let’s take a look at this case study.

TREATMENT #1:

I wound up using several tools for treatment.

Man Delivers 10 Pound Baby?!?

datePosted on 17:11, March 19th, 2012 by Kimberly Thompson, L.Ac.

Last week I received a phone call from a frantic wife, asking if I could help her husband with acupuncture. She claimed that he was experiencing labor pains… Okay, so he wasn’t REALLY having a baby, but he WAS passing a kidney stone. From his description, the kidney stone was at least as big as a “10 pound baby.”

I get phone calls on a daily basis from potential patients asking if I can help with certain ailments–many of which, I treat on a daily basis. The things I treat regularly become second nature. But, I’ll be honest, I don’t get very many calls from patients who are in the acute phase of a kidney stone attack. I knew that this was something I had learned about in college and that acupuncture could help, so I told her to bring him right in.

Case Study:

Chief complaint: Acute onset of kidney stone attack

The patient, a 57-year-old male, had worked all day at his office experiencing dull aching pain in his lower back, on the right, and hourly urination. Urination was not painful. As the day progressed, the pain became more intense and radiated into his groin and testicles. He went to the emergency room because the pain continued to increase to a 9 out of 10. The doctors tested him for blood in the urine, which was positive, even though it could not be seen with the visible eye. A CT scan confirmed that he had a “small” kidney stone which had progressed three quarters of the way down the ureter. He was given medication to dilate the ureter and relieve pain. Then his doctor sent him home to wait it out.

Who Wants a FREE Wall Chart?

datePosted on 16:13, March 12th, 2012 by Dr. Larsen

First of all, I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has ordered Auriculo 3D or one of the Auriculo 3D discount packages in the last week. Response has been HUGE and we’ve all been working plenty of extra hours to fill all the orders. We LOVE providing outstanding acupuncture products to our customers, and being this busy is lots of fun. Again, thank you all.

One of those outstanding products that’s generating quite a bit of buzz is our new Auricular Acupuncture Points wall chart. This big, beautiful chart is comprehensive and practical for any auriculotherapy practice. It features 241 illustrated points all shown in their correct locations, and an index and key to help you rapidly locate any point. And of course, it’s laminated for protection. You can even write on it with dry erase markers for annotation and notes that can be erased later.

But beyond all the great features, let me tell you what I love about the chart.

When you scan a patient’s ear and find a hot spot (tender, electrically active, red, etc.) you want to know what that spot is and what it means. The trouble is, that without a comprehensive chart, you’re left to guess or thumb through lots of books trying to figure it out. It’s not a great way to practice, and fortunately, it’s OVER!

Now, no matter where you find an active point, you’ll instantly know exactly which point it is, and all the points around it, as well. There’s simply no faster way to arrive at the correct auricular assessment.

Sound good? It is.

But the REALLY good part is that right now you can still get the chart FREE with the Auriculo 3D Practice Builder Package. That’s a $50 savings on top of the huge product savings included in the package–and you get the world’s most advanced, 3-dimensional auriculotherapy software as well.

But here’s the catch: This special was supposed to end on Friday. Frankly we were too overwhelmed and exhausted with orders to make the changes then, so we let it run through the weekend. We’re currently in the process of taking down this special, but if you order today (before midnight) we’ll still honor the special–regardless of what the website says. EVEN IF THE SPECIAL IS NO LONGER VISIBLE, you’ll still get your FREE auriculotherapy wall chart with your Practice Builder Package. Just remember, you have to order by Midnight tonight (Monday, March 12th. Midnight means 11:59:59 pm in your time zone.)

Oh–and if you already own the Auriculo PC software, you can still upgrade to the Auriculo 3D Customer Appreciation Package at a huge discount AND get the free chart in your package!

So there you go. A great tool for your practice, and a great opportunity–if you hurry. Click here to see the deals!

Three Tiny Little Points = One Huge Impact

datePosted on 16:12, March 12th, 2012 by Kimberly Thompson, L.Ac.

Who has time to spend hours and hours thumbing through auricular therapy books to find helpful little jewels of information to use in their practice? Not you??? I completely understand. Dr. Larsen has taken care of that problem for you. He pays ME to do all of the research so that I can help you to become a better practitioner.

A couple of weeks ago I was speaking to an acupuncturist, Susannah Sunderland from Carlsbad, California, who sold 600 acupuncture sessions through a local Groupon in her community. That’s a lot of acupuncture sessions! She called me to ask questions about the AcuGraph system, but instead our phone call turned into me asking her a ton of questions about how she managed to take care of so many new patients. She said that it was overwhelming and she is not sure if she would do it again, but that she learned a lot about herself and her abilities as a practitioner. One of the things that stuck out in our conversation was the respect that she had gained for auriculotherapy.

Susannah said that she treated three auricular points on every patient and that those points alone set the foundation for the work that needed to be done in each treatment. What were those points?

Shen Men

Point Zero

Sympathetic Autonomic Point

I did a little bit of research into our Auriculo 3D program and my research notes and found some interesting facts about those three points.

What Makes it Worth it?

datePosted on 15:07, March 5th, 2012 by Dr. Larsen

So with the introduction of Auriculo 3D, the price went up. Did you notice? The previous, two-dimensional version of the software was $199, and this new version is $249–an increase of $50. What gives?

Hey, I love a bargain just as much as you, and I’ll bet you’re asking yourself, like I did, what makes a piece of software worth $250?

I could give you lots of answers, and you probably already know them yourself. Like these:

  • We spent thousands of hours putting together this information to make it fast, easy and accessible.
  • We developed our own proprietary 3D ear model because there simply wasn’t anything good enough available on the commercial market.
  • Just to purchase the 17 source texts would cost you $977.69.

But you know, none of that really matters in your day-to-day practice. Here’s what matters:

Does the software provide you the tools you need to help more people get better, faster?

If so, $249 is a bargain.

While you’re at it, you could ask the other questions as well:
